I So Want to Give CNCO a Big Fat "Beso" for Finally Releasing New Music

CNCO surprised their fans with the release of their new single, “Beso.” They had been lying low for most of the pandemic while a lot of artists set out to release several singles, albums, and innovative music videos. Nevertheless, unless the five of them lived in the same house with a recording studio, it would’ve been a logistic nightmare to get the boys going.

They did, however, release their hit “Honey Boo” with Natti Natasha earlier in April, although the song and music video had already been recorded and shot before the worldwide state of emergency.

To be fair, I’m glad Joel Pimentel, Richard Camacho, Erick Brian Colón, Christopher Vélez, and Zabdiel De Jesús took this time off and got a chance to be with their families for a while. After all, their lives got turned upside down at a very early age and they haven’t stopped working since they won Univision’s La Banda. They needed the downtime to recharge and come back better than ever which is what they’ve done.

It started with their incredible performance of “Honey Boo” at Premios Juventud a couple weeks ago, where they not only put on display their vocal talent, but also their choreography skills with a little dance break reminiscing of our favorite ‘90s boybands.

Today, after teasing fans for weeks with a 14-second audio, the award-winning, multiplatinum Latin American boy band surprised everyone with the anticipated release of “Beso.” The song starts slow, setting up the story and building up to the chorus where the boys ask their love interest for a kiss, because “that’s what mouths were made for.”

It’s a fun, catchy, light tune that is perfect to dedicate to your special someone or even dance together if things go well — wink wink.

CNCO will make the premiere performance of “Beso” on Sunday, August 30 at the 2020 MTV VMAs where they will return, this time to — finally — take the main stage after turning the heat up last year during the pre-show with their performance of “De Cero.” This year, they’re also up for three awards: “Best Group,” “Best Quarantine Performance,” and “Best Choreography” for “Honey Boo.”
