Olé! Sebastián Yatra is adding a little Spanish flair to his new single and music video “A Dónde Van” with Álvaro Díaz. The song, written by Yatra himself, shows his continued growth and maturity as an artist, as well as his versatility in tackling both the songwriting and the performance.

“It is an unexpected collaboration, and each one of us went out of our comfort zones,” Yatra said about “A Dónde Van” in a press release. “That’s one of the cool things I love about music, discovering new facets.”

In this song, both Yatra and Díaz fuse elements of Latin pop and flamenco with an underlying reggaetón beat, strong melodic vocals, and a lot of sentimiento as they talk about the emotions in not being correspondido in love.

“The song deals with where the kisses go when they are given, what happens with the caresses, the moments and the memories, it makes you remember all the people who have passed through your life,” Yatra added.

The music video, directed by Joaquín Cambre, shows Yatra and Díaz in a tablao, enjoying the live music, the Spanish dancing, and a little mischief. It feels like the noche de fiesta Yatra should’ve had after his recent breakup with Argentine superstar Tini — or at least that’s how I imagine it would’ve gone if we lived in a no-COVID world.

It’s all about enjoying a night out like in the good ole times without any expectation where it might lead, which makes this video — which got almost a million views in less than a day of being released — so much more appealing and intriguing, because it makes us wonder, “would we do the same once there’s no risk of being indoors with a large group of people?” I hope this video is some sort of premonition.
